Do I Know You?

What does it mean to know someone?

I know my brother, I know my sister

I know who Obama is, but I don't know him

"How do you know the bride and the groom?"

"Well, who do you know here?!"

An investigative wedding guest, and a frat boy all in one

I know my dog, I think he knows me

I know some of my coworkers very well

Well, I know what their weekend plans are

I know her favorite song, I know what makes her laugh 'til she snorts

I know her greatest fear is to end up trapped in a marriage that's just like her parents'

...but I don't know what she wants

I wish I knew more people

I wish I never knew a few

I guess that's not up to me

I know I know them

They told me their name just yesterday!

"Hey, nice to see you again..man!"

I DEFINITELY know myself

I mean, I have a 5 year plan

So what. the hell. am I doing. tonight..?

Do I REALLY know myself?

I just ordered two shots of grey goose and I HATE vodka

Maybe I know who I want to portray; a persona-a good time, perhaps

I know my best friends better than they know themselves

Which is why it inflames me when blind requests for advice fall upon deaf ears

But, there's truly nothing better than a self-righteous, pervasively dignified "I told you so" :D

For me, I think it's being able to catch a glimpse of that person at a grocery store

Eye contact is made, and neither party looks away or turns the same red as the bell peppers you were just weighing out

Just an unforced, natural smile flashing across one anothers' face, and an internal expression that speaks: you're not alone
